Student comments

Some comments by students:

Hendrik Swart: (Bogerman, vwo) “My opinion about the way we have advanced mathematics is that it is a good way maybe even better than normal classes because I think you will learn better this way. There is only one small problem with the class, sometimes it is hard to hear what somebody says. But overall it is a great way to have classes.”

Klaas Kliffen: (Bogerman, vwo) “I think it's a great way to have lessons, because you're working with other students from another school. They think different about things then we do in Sneek. They use other solutions to solve math problems than we use, so we're learning lots of new things. But we have to be careful when we are whispering, because the microphone picks up even the clicking of a ballpoint on the other side of the connection.”

Roan de Boer: (Bogerman, vwo) “At first I thought it was a very good idea. But sadly enough not perfect. I think the bad part of this project are the cameras, you don't feel like you teacher is in the same classroom. It feels like you're separated from the other students. If they could improve that; it would be perfect. The rest is just fine as it is.”

Peter van der Wal: (Bogerman, vwo) “I think the lessons are interesting, but its hard to keep your attention at the class when you need follow class by tv-screen. If the teacher doesn't only explain, so we can also work a little bit, then its not irritating. To listen 50-60 min long to a voice you only can see on the screen is boring.
It would be an improvement to swap between working and the explenation.”

Csilla Appeldoorn: (Broklede, vwo) “Although some individuals might find the camera distracting, most of the students are positive about this new, advanced way of education. Some say that, because you can see and hear each other, you really have the feeling that they are in the classroom. Others say that they notice little difference since the teacher is “on our side”.”

Birgit van der Stigchel: (Broklede, vwo) “I don't really notice differences with our “normal" lessons, but I think this is because the students from Sneek don't ask many questions and we don't watch them, but they us. We just have a teacher in front of our classroom and if we ask something the teacher can explain that, just like other lessons.”

Esther Schrama: (Broklede, vwo) “I do like the video part of this project. Because you can see and hear each other, you get the feeling that you are in the same classroom, following the same lesson.”
